Deep Spectroscopy with DESI for Photometric Redshift Training and Calibration

We obtained deep DESI spectroscopy as a pilot sample for a future potential DESI-Deep sample of spectroscopic redshifts for faint galaxies that does not involve color selection, which would be instrumental for training and calibrating photometric redshifts for Stage IV weak lensing analyses. We found that DESI is extremely efficient, and that the signal-to-noise ratio scaled as expected for background-limited observations.
